Krush Groove (1985) - This hip hop flick stars the Fat Boys, Run DMC, Beastie Boys, Kurtis Blow and Sheila E. The story is about Russell Simmons who doesn't star in the movie but does a cameo appearance. Rare old school footage of the Beastie Boys and performances by the Fat Boys (Buffy - RIP).
Rhyme and Reason - A video history following the rise of rap music, from the simple street rhythms of the Bronx to a powerful force in the music industry, and its popular off-shoots, hip-hop and house. Includes a look at some of the major performers in the field as well as interviews with such artists as Heavy D, The Fugees, Ice-T, The Notorious B.I.G., and Salt-N-Pepa. (Amazon Videos)
The Show - Spotty concert and backstage documentary still has enough to satisfy fans of rap and hip-hop, contrasting the younger breed --a couple of whom have had serious scrapes with the law--with the wizened old-breed performers like LL Cool J and members of Run-DMC. Film's non-linear structure sometimes comes off as more haphazard than creative. (Amazon Videos)
