Hi,
I'm Scorp... I was the Mod in this forum in 2002, and here I am again.. The question I am posing is, what things would you like to see in the education forum? What topicals would you like to see. What other content would you like to see in this forum? I do plan to import the rest of the tutorials that I have saved, and that I can find from PR back over here. Maybe even starting up a Topical workout in the Forum...write 8 lines about a topic I give, and lets see how well you can stay on topic, how well you use imagery, etc. let me know ~SCORP |

Punches, that is the #1 thing I want to see. I want to see detailed information about taking a concept to a complete punch. Wizerd went over it a little bit, but I want something that is going to allow people to make the connection between a punch that is shitty as fuck and something that is dope.
Take a shitty ass punch, explain WHY the fuck it is lame. Not shit like, "isn't creative enough". If you were an artist and you had spent a couple weeks painting a portrait, entered it into a competition only to have the judge say, "wasn't creative enough"? What the fuck does that tell you? How are you gaining from that? So that is what I would like to see, more focus on detail, and what makes dope punches and what makes good battlers. |

Well yes, because having a bunch of people write shitty punches, not really sure how that is going to help. Writing will let you get better, but what makes a good punch?
So if I was to give you a topic, lets say for example "going bald". What is every step that you go through getting from concept to punch? |

Yea, that is what I would like. I mean, I've watched the NBA for a long time and I have also played Basketball for a long time. Does this mean I am anywhere near the level of NBA players? Hell no.
Could they break down the complicated matters of the game to me? Yes. That is what I want Scorp to do, take punches, and explain how you get there. How do you take a horrible textcee/rapper and make him good? |

True, but every fighter, and every athlete has their own style, but you can't get your own style until you have mastered the fundamentals.
I don't really see very good fundamentals here on writing punches, or what encompass' a good punch. So I still beg the question, if I was to give you a topic of "balding, going bald, ect." How would you take that from a concept to a punch? I see a ton of great topicals here and I think that topicals are easier to write in my opinion. Since you see a ton of great writers who can do topicals, but are shit when it comes to punches. |

This is somewhat true, I wouldnt necessarily say one is easier than the other. Just because, on the net, 1 person can bang out topicals and 15 people on one site say its good, doesnt mean its good. The best Topical heads on this site, are also tested battler heads RC, X, etc... heres the thing, Carbon B is right...great fighters have their own style, yet they have to master the fundamentals. Mastery of said fundamentals is imperative, and the only fundamentals I can think of are a. read the tutorials...not trying to say this is the only thing to do, but seriously, Wizzy's Punch Tutorial is wicked with the basics..he breaks down dammn near every punch imaginable..hell, even RC's Punch tutorial is a great read. I say read these, bacause these are the fundamentals you are looking for, in my opinion. b. Read other battle heads battles, go back as far as you can, go to other sites, look at how that person shapes his battle. Using the same analogy of boxing, boxers will not only look over past fights from people who they are gonna fight, but also they look at old footage of great fighters, to see what they did, and see of they can use any parts of their battle style. I say do the same thing. When I fist joined, I read through so many battle, just to see what the other battlers were doing here. c. Listen to more battle heads hiphop. Before I used ot battle, I would listen to Canibus just to get hyped...if this doesnt work for you..move on.. d. Spit more...this is just a given. The only way to get batter at someting is to do it. You cant expect to watch all of of th fighting tapes in the world, and get fundamentals..but if you dont practice, you dont get batter...bottom line. *I'm liking this boxing thing* And I mean practice a lot. If you really want to get better, battle at least three four times a week. IF that doesnt work..write battle lines as they come to you where ever you are, and build on them...Hell, post a quick 4 line drop specifically about me in here, and I will critique, or get some of the other mods to critique... Finally, I think the going bald punch is kinda wack..in my opinion, with a punch like that, you have a 50% chance of effecting the audience you really want. Personal punches, are one better compsed normally offer a better hit. Even something with more imagery. But then this is just my opinion.. Keep Spittin....

Scorp, I say lollipop and he gets on both knees
Says please, and begs until his mouth bleeds Guy couldn't get a handout from Mother Teresa Got kicked out of church for trying to blow the Preach-uh Something quick that I wrote up, and I wrote up a two liner in the other thread, now can you specifically tell me what is lacking? Wording? Creativity? Why doesn't it hit hard? What needs to change? More descriptive? I know that the lines are wack, but what would make them better is really what I'm trying to get at.
