"better days" ...

ight my mom is icequeen for those who ever read her poetry and the piece she wrote which is titled better days is in the hall of fame so basically she inspired me to continue with my own thoughts

Clouds would go there separate ways but not for blue skies
You know this world has no morals when even truth lies
Better days sit lost within the depths of the sea
Growing bitter from the dark abyss and debris
Souls ravaged in this pit ~ rotting the fruits we bear
So every limb that reached out is lost in its despair
No innocent child is spared from these days that lie ahead
I wonder if better days even deprive the dead
Shallow graves dug just beneath the skins surface
Is life a nightmare lacking intent and purpose?
A sick circus ~ putting on a display of oddities
Embracing atrocity like some sort of commodity
Human philosophy entangling itself in a breeze
Turning to savage winds which keeps the weary on there knees
To some degree, better days are possible to attain…
If we could break this barrier we created with the pain

And yet I’ve seen better days

If better days consumed this nation full of rage
The beast we call hatred would be put into its cage
Locked away forever ~ the key buried in the dirt
Making only memories for the devil when he smirked
We thirst for the things that only quench the lost
Refusing the water of life purified on the cross
For Jesus removed the stone and rose from the grave….

And for that reason ive seen... better days

Decent piece. It wasn't great, but it wasn't bad. I thought the flow of the whole verse could've been a bit smoother. The imagery was pretty good. Topic matter's not very original, but what is these days...

Like I said before...it's not a bad piece, but nothing special either.
